2 Peter 1:12-21/ 2 Peter 2:1-3
Be established in the present Truth.
- Truth is not in trouble
- Truth is made to endure all the afflictions sent against it
The apostles did not hesitate to warn of the dangerous men and false doctrines.
Philippians 3:17-19 They are enemies of the cross. Paul said weeping I tell you.
How could a false church come into existence so soon after Pentecost?
Approximately 100 years after Holy Ghost was poured out.
Somebody did not defend it!
Somebody did not tell their generation!
It was a little by little, a gradual change in the wrong direction.
Paul said in Heb. 2:1-5, “We ought to give the more earnest heed, lest we let it slip what we have heard.”
Peter said in 2 Pet. 1:12-13, “I will not be negligent to put you in remembrance.”
In other words, as long as I have breath, I am going to preach to you!
We have to know where we came from.
- The price paid for out freedom.
- Apostolic Doctrine.
- The men and women who gave their life for this glorious gospel.
- Pioneers of Pentecost.
- Our Pentecostal heritage.
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: For it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
We must not ever forget
- We must not become like the people of God in the Old Testament.
There arose a generation that knew not the Lord, nor his works.
One generation away from apostasy (deserting one’s faith, false)
I am alarmed at how so little value is placed on the old apostolic landmarks.
Have we become a generation that cannot relate or explain the Godhead?
Let me tell you who Jesus is,
The mighty God is Jesus
The Prince of Peace is He,
The Everlasting Father,
The King Eternally,
The Wonderful in wisdom by whom all things were made,
The fullness of the Godhead in Jesus is displayed.
It’s all in Him
The mighty God is Jesus and it’s all in Him.
How sad that it could be said of anyone in this house like 2 Thess. 2:7-12, “Because they received not a love for the truth, God sent them a strong delusion.
- Delusion – A misleading of mind unconcerned, when you lose your love, you become capable of anything!
Pernicious ways – having the power to kill or destroy, deadly or wicked.
Covetousness – greedy
Feigned Words – deception, false, to imagine, to pretend
Truth is firm.
Truth is eternal.
Truth does not change.
What was true yesterday, will be true today and will be true tomorrow.
Heb. 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same….”
Truth will bless you or Truth will shake you!
God’s church is built upon a solid foundation. It’s built upon Truth. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”
Saints of God, should worship in Truth
- Saints of God, should serve God in Truth
- Saints of God, should rejoice in Truth
- Saints of God, should meditate upon Truth
Phil. 4:8 “Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, think on these things.”
John the Baptist bore witness to the Truth.
We have the best music, best musicians, etc.
Pentecost is loaded with professional talent. But God give us a baptism of real love for apostolic Truth.
Don’t let me develop the attitude that every time I come to church, I must be entertained, but let me renew my love for Truth!
- God gives us a real hunger.
- God gives us a real desire.
- We need to get back to the old time power of apostolic Truth.
Bible reading is essential, but it’s also dangerous if you are reading unconcerned!
Read: 1 John 4:1-6 – Try the spirits
This church will stand. You just need to stay with Truth. Don’t worry about storms that may come your way. The church was built to weather any storm.
It’s time to go forward in Truth!
- is according to godliness.
- abides continually with the saints.
- should be believed.
- should be obeyed.
- should be loved.
- should be manifested.
- should be rightly divided.
Evil people are destitute of Truth. They are punished for the want of Truth.
Truth – A moral and personal characteristic of God.
